I have not purchased Starry Night yet. Do I need to before I can run Apollo?
No, you do not need to purchase Starry Night first. Apollo is a completely separate program and runs independently of other Starry Night software. Simply purchase, download and install the program.
I already have a version of Starry Night. Is the Apollo download compatible with what I have?
Unlike the Starry Night data modules, which require the core application to run, Apollo is a completely separate program and does not require the previous installation of any other Starry Night software. However, if you already have a version of Starry Night installed, Apollo will not conflict with it.
How is Apollo different from the Apollo Landings Horizon Panorama module?
While similarities do exist, the Landings Horizon module requires the core application to run, whereas Apollo is a complete, standalone application. In addition, the Landings Horizon module does not include trajectory data for the Apollo missions, 3-D spacecraft modeling, television transmissions and a host of other unique features.

To run Starry Night® Apollo you need:
Windows: Requires Windows XP, 500 MHz or higher processor, 128 MB RAM and 900 MB of hard disk space. 32 MB OpenGL capable graphics card. Minimum recommended monitor resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels.
Macintosh: Universal Binary runs natively on Intel and PPC Macintosh computers. Requires OS X 10.3.9 or higher, G3 450 MHz or higher processor, 128 MB RAM and 900 MB of hard disk space. Will not run on OS 9.x or earlier. 32 MB OpenGL capable graphics card. Minimum recommended monitor resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels.
Basic support for joysticks recognized by Windows XP and Mac OS X.
Starry Night Apollo will run on a Windows Vista computer provided the latest graphics card Vista drivers supporting hardware-accelerated OpenGL are installed. At present, there are Vista drivers that do not support hardware-accelerated OpenGL to the extent required by Starry Night. This is beyond our control.
The following graphics cards have been successfully tested against Starry Night on Windows Vista using latest manufacturer's drivers:
nVidia: 7600, 7300, 6600, 6200
ATI: X1900, X1650, X1550, X1300, X800 (non-AGP only)
By no means is this an exhaustive list. We are certain there are many more cards that will work and we will add more cards to this list as we are able to fully test them.
MacWorld UK — April 2008
"We found watching the rotating Moon with all Apollo landing sites marked for easy reference enlightening, and the images of the rotating Earth below were beautiful. Watching the Moon recede as Apollo 10 returned home was impressive, but nothing compared to watching the surface of the Moon rotate beneath the orbiting Apollo 10 spacecraft."
"The inclusion of actual photographs of earth and the Moon - taken by the astronauts during the missions - is a bonus."
"What really floored us was seeing the same skies and constellations the Apollo astronauts saw as they stood on the surface of the Moon. This software will delight anyone with an interest in history or spaceflight."
